Annie Michele Moses

December 18, 1959 — July 16, 2022

Annie Michele Moses was born in Evergreen, Alabama on December 18, 1959. In her early childhood, Annie was raised by her grandparents, Annie Lorena Murry and James Clinton Murry. Soon after, Annie left Evergreen and moved to Houston to be united with her parents, James & Cecilia Penright, in 1968. Annie was the oldest of 7 siblings. She attended Osborne Elementary, Fonville Middle School, M.C. Williams and graduated from Waltrip High School in 1978. She participated in ROTC and Home Economics. Annie came to know Christ at an early age.  It was her diligence that motivated her mother and siblings to attend Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, under the supervision of the late Pastor B.J. Lewis. Annie remained an active member of Progressive until she transferred her membership to New Life in Christ Baptist Church under the care of Pastor Frank A. Maxie. On August 17, 1988, Annie joined in marriage with LaTeef Orrel Moses and this union lasted 33 years until her homegoing. Annie’s proudest moments in life was the birth of her two sons. Timothy Tremaine Penright (Houston), and Jarrod Andre Penright (Houston).  There was nothing that she would not do for her sons, and they were number one in her life even until her dying day.  At her weakest moments, Annie found strength to open her eyes and show her boys that she was strong enough to go a little bit further just to help encourage them to continue moving forward. Annie showed her children and her loved ones their worth by teaching them the value of hard work. Never being one to sit idle, Annie worked to provide for her family and to give them the nurture that we have all seen her share with us.  She has a long career history in the Customer Service industry including:  United Jewelry, American International Insurance, Foley’s, Randalls, ABM-Intercontinental Airport, and Daycare Manager.  Annie served as a Supervisor of Campaign Staff for multiple Democratic Party candidates. She also volunteered with the Children’s Ministry at New Life in Christ Church. She enjoyed sending inspirational messages to her family and friends for encouragement.  She loved to laugh, take road trips, and spend time with her grandchildren. In her homegoing, Annie leaves to cherish her memory husband, Lateef Moses, son Timothy Penright, his children- Xavier, Shaquavia, Timisha, Anthony, Kelvina, Marquila, and Timija, son Jarrod (Annesia) Penright, his children- Jarrod Jr., Tylan, Kortlan, Kendall, and Tatum. Father, James A. Penright, brothers Cecil (Doris) Penright, Reginald (Krista) Penright, Timothy (Alisa) Penright; sisters, Dorena Penright Owens Anderson, Lorena Penright, and Janell Penright-Hector. Annie has a large host of other loving relatives, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special family and friends that live in various states who will remember her joy and kindness. For Annie, to be absent from the body is be present with the Lord. She reunites with her mother, Cecelia Marie Penright. The legacy that Michele has left is alive in all of her loved ones. Her life was rich with an abundance of hugs, kisses and shared laughter.
