Audrey Faye Reese

January 13, 1953 — November 16, 2021

On January 13, 1953, in Oak Ridge, Louisiana, a baby girl was born to Doretha Johnson and the late Breard Ishop whom they named Audrey Faye Johnson.

Audrey accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 11 at the Aim Well Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, Louisiana, under the leadership of the late Rev. Willie Bill. She sang in the choir and served on the mourners bench.

After relocating to Houston, she became a member of the Greater First Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Gibbs, where she served in several capacities. She continued her fellowship and served faithfully with several other churches including Yale Street Baptist Church , Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church , and until God saw fit to call her home, she was a dedicated member of the First Fruits Christian Center under the leadership of Pastor Elaine T. Benson. Audrey became an ordained licensed minister on October 22, 2017. Audrey also organized MOM to CHARM Ministry, which she held dear to her heart.

Audrey was a graduate of Delta High School in MeRouge, Louisiana, in 1971. She was an honor student and loved science and math. She then continued her education at BISH Mathis Institute in Monroe, Louisiana, in 1972, and became an executive administrator. She landed several jobs to care for her family. She worked for Whitehall Hotel, Reality Inc, Methodist Hospital, Milestone Institute, and retired from the Houston Housing Authority after 28 years of service. She met and married Frank Reese in October 1973. Audrey was a lover of people and enjoyed traveling to many places. She loved reading and studying God’s word, listening to music, walking, and just spending quiet time with the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Isom and Irma Johnson and Mary Edmonds.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughter, Anganette Reese, and son, Avery Reese, both of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Avery Reese II and Asia Reese; two brothers, Charles (Eveline) Walker of Shreveport, LA, and Thomas Walker of Houston, TX; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other friends who will forever hold her dear.
