Beverly Joyce Wade Freeman

November 24, 1959 — September 4, 2021

On November 24, 1959, a baby girl was born in Houston, Texas to Abraham Washington and Bennie Mae Richardson, whom they named Beverly Joyce Washington. She shared her upbringing with her siblings, other relatives, and friends who lived life to the fullest each and everyday.

Her educational opportunities begin in the Houston Independent School District, where she attended HSPVA. Beverly accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life while attending service at Union Evangelist Baptist Church. After meeting and marrying Myron Johnson, Sr., she and her family joined the Kashmere Garden Baptist Church. She was a member of the choir and worked alongside her husband, who was ordained as a deacon. After maturing in the word, they then moved their membership to New Life In Christ Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Frank Maxie in 1996.  God called Myron Johnson, Sr., home to be with Him. She remained a dedicated member, singing in the choir, participating with the Mission Department, and working in whatever capacity that she could.

Beverly had a passion for riding motorcycles and was a part of the United MC of Houston. She was a hard worker with strong will. She was a DIVA in her own way and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. She loved God, her family, and her church. Anyone who knew Beverly knew they better keep on their shades because she was always going to shine.

Beverly met a new love, Nathaniel Freeman, and they began to share and joined as one.  This is whom she shared the sacred vows for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, and even until death.

On September 4, 2021, Beverly was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Abraham Washington and Bennie Mae; stepfather, Sylvester Norman, Sr.; sister, Marilyn Washington; brother, Vincent Kelley, Sr.; and aunt, Janie Booker.

She leaves precious memories to be cherished by: her husband, Nathaniel Freeman; children, Nicole (Terrence) Lee, Brandy (Brian) Battle, Joycelyn (Donald) Jordon, Myron Johnson, Jr., and Thomas (Jeanette) Johnson; grandchildren, Davion and Trevon Stevenson, Arrianna and Terrance “TJ” Lee, Kennedy and Xavier Battle, Donovan “Don Don” Jordan, Jasmine, Thomas Lee, Summerly Rose Nicole, Myrajhanay and Santiago Johnson, and Ma’leijha and A’leijha Collins; sisters, Frances Mae Johnson, Loretta Omotosho, Sylvia (Billy) Pickens; brother, Anthony Ray Washington; a special friend, Cathy Gibson “Momma Cat;” and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
