Clarence E. Floyd

Clarence Floyd was Born May 31, 1949, to parents, Walter L. Floyd, Sr., and Rosevelt Floyd in

Corpus Christi, Texas. He was the youngest of eight boys.

Clarence attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School and Solomon Coles Jr. High and High School. While in high school he worked at Leather’s Pharmacy, which is where he decided to pursue a career in Pharmacy. He attended Texas Southern University Pharmacy School and graduated with honors in 1972.

After graduating college, he worked at Harris County Hospital District for 37 years. Clarence attended Greater New Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a part of the Finance Committee.

On March 9, 1980, Clarence was truly blessed with a beautiful daughter, Janaya Shunta Woods. Clarence loved, spoiled, and thought the world of his baby girl. He truly enjoyed his father-daughter dates.

Clarence leaves those who loved him dearly to cherish his memories: his daughter, Janaya Shunta Woods; granddaughter, Averi Lee; Janaya’s mother, Terry Williams; sons-in-love, Henry and Obie Hines; daughters-in-love, Dina and Michelle Hines, and Brigitte Shepard; brothers, Troy Floyd, Sr., Willie Grant Floyd, and McKinley Floyd; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his father, Walter Floyd, Sr.; mother, Rosevelt Floyd; and brothers, Walter Floyd, Jr., Charles Floyd, David Floyd, and Robert Floyd.

Clarence was Texas Southern University proud! “TSU all the way!”
