On January 22, 1951, in the city of Fort Worth, Texas, a baby girl was born to Henry Lee Carter and Addie Lee Phillips whom they named Cleo Jane. Cleo grew up in a loving home with her parents and other siblings.
Cleo accepted Christ and was baptized at a very early age. Cleo and her family later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where she attended Miller High School. She was a Nurses’ Aid for many years. Cleo loved and cherished her children, Andrea, Winston, and King.
Cleo loved life and enjoyed swimming and dancing. Most of all, she was a caregiver and had a heart of gold.
She moved to Rockport, Texas, where she met and married L. J. Simmons in 1992. She then became a member of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Usher until her health failed.
On January 22, 2024 Cleo was received by those who preceded her in death: her husband, L. J.Simmons; parents, Addie Lee and Henry Lee; stepson, Algie Lee Simmon; four brothers, Sonnie Russell, Samuel Butler Carter, Floyd Phillips, Jr., and Eddie Lee Phillips; and two sisters, Linda Parnell and Rosie Lee Davis.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her daughter, Andrea Satterwhite; two sons, Winston and King Satterwhite; two step-children, Willie Charles, and Willie Roy Simmons; four grandchildren, DeAndre and Dominique Coleman and Winston Jr. and Jasmine Satterwhite; one great-grandson, Winston Satterwhite III; two sisters, Shirley Phillips and Floydia Mae Freeman; very close friends and caregivers, Pauline Walls, Judy Fairchild, and Olivia Hardeman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
