Eligh Williams

October 5, 1948 — July 3, 2022

Eligh Williams was born on October 5, 1948, in Delhi, Louisiana to the late Ed Williams, Sr., and Mary Nathan Williams. Eligh accepted Christ into his life at the age of 12 years old at New Fellowship Baptist Church of Delhi.  He was baptized in “Joe King’s Pool”.

He attended Esther Toombs High School of Delhi, LA.  Eligh was the bridge that connected the three older children to the two younger children. “Lasha” as he was known by many family and friends, was unlike anyone you will ever meet.  If you had the opportunity to have met him, you will understand that statement. Lasha had a memory like a trap door. He was the best roofer, truck driver, longshoreman, warehouseman, domino player, and all-around good guy.  But, most of all, Eligh Williams was a child of God. During his latter days of life, he personally acknowledged that he KNOWS that, if he were to take his last breath now, he WILL go to Heaven. He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour.

In 1987, Eligh united in Holy Matrimony with BobbiLou Smith. No children were born to this union.  BobbiLou preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his father, Ed Williams, Sr., and mother, Mary Nathan Williams.

Eligh departed this life in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 3, 2022. Our circle has been broken. He will miss him, but his memory will always live on in our hearts, minds, and spirits forever.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two sisters, Bettie Jean Clark (Clarence) of Houston, TX, and Alma Williams Palmer (Ralph) of Antioch, CA. He leaves three brothers, Ed Williams, Jr., of Houston; Murry Leon Williams (Patricia) of Houston; and, David Leroy Williams (Patricia) of Baytown, TX. , He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends, including staff at West Janisch Health Care Center, Houston, TX.
