Bro. Ellis Thomas, Sr., Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on May 23, 2022. Bro. Thomas was born on August 14, 1930, Gonzales County, Texas to the late Hermie and Gladys Harris Thomas. He was the sixth child born to this union.
He attended Wells school in Gonzales County. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was involved in church as a child and youth.
As a young adult, Bro. Thomas moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where he was united in holy matrimony to Addie Joy Bonds on October 18, 1949. Bro. and missionary Thomas were happily married for 58 years and to this union three children were born.
Bro. Thomas continued to live his life, working, and taking care of his family. While on the job, the Lord spoke to Bro. Thomas and from that point on, he gave his life totally to the Lord. He later retired from Coastal Material Inc. after working for 44 years as a crane operator and began to serve at the Shiloh Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Daniel Roberson.
Bro. Thomas was ordained as a deacon and served for over 50 years until his death. He was a strong mentor and taught young men and women to honor God and do good. He encouraged those around him to love the Lord with all their heart and, when the opportunity presented itself, he shared his testimony. He loved his family and everyone he met.
Bro. Thomas is preceded in death by his wife Addie Joy Bonds Thomas, his parents Hermie and Gladys Thomas, granddaughter Royal Thomas, four sisters, Lucille Coleman (Claude), Maude S. Stewart (Warren), Joyce Barnes (Claude Lee) and Ikoza Bennett (E F) and four brothers: Charlie Thomas (Hallie), Jack Thomas, (Mary), Tommy Thomas, Sr. (Charlesetta) and Sammie J Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Hermie Thomas, Sr. (Denise) of Corpus Christi, Texas and Ellis Thomas, Jr. (Claudette) of Houston, Texas; two daughters: Wonda Jo Thomas of Corpus Christi, Texas and Diane Anderson (George) of Houston Texas; one sister, Dorothy Nell Thomas of Dallas, Texas and one sister-in-law Cornelia Thomas of Corpus Christi, Texas. He also leaves 12 grandchildren: 11 greatgrandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
