James R. Savere, Iii

James  Ray Savere III, 75 born in Corpus Christi, Texas on November 8, 1948 to James R. Savere, Jr. and Ruth M. Savere. He was known as Sy, Jimmy and JR. On Thursday March 14, 2024 he transitioned to his  heavenly home. He professed his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Calvary First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. H.C. Dilworth, currently under the leadership of Bishop C.E. Richardson, Sr. He attended West Oso High School, class of 1966 where he played football and basketball. He later signed with the Washington Redskins practice squad. He attended the Nueces County Sheriff’s Training Academy. He worked for Nueces County Sheriff’s Department, Gonzales Police Department, Rice University Police Department and Mayde Creek High School during his career in law enforcement. JR loved to barbecue and took great pride in doing so. James was faithful in the church. He was an ordained deacon. He was later called by the Lord to preach the gospel and licensed as a minister under the leadership of Bishop C. E. Richardson, Sr. James sung in the mass choir and the male chorus. He was the Pastor’s Armor Bearer, and speciality cook at the church. He also served in The Brotherhood, Sunday School and was faithful in the Men’s Ministry and Minister’s Class. James was preceded in death by his parents Winston C. Sr. & Ruth M. White, James R. Savere Jr., Brothers: Winston C. White Jr., Nelson White Sr. and Lee White Sr. along with his grandparents Claude Stone, Ola Mae and Sherman Tennerd . He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Gloria Paxton-Savere, Children: James R. (Yeni) Savere IV, Angela (Wilbur) Volair of Houston, TX and Tomika Savere, of Fresno, CA, Sisters: Linda (Leon) King of Cypress, TX, Gail White, Shirley Douglas and Carla (Henry) Huff all of Katy, TX Sandra (Cleve) Tryon of Houston, TX, Brothers: Gordon “Ricoe” White(Donna), and Mark White both of Corpus Christi, TX, and Rodney Taylor of Houston, TX Grandchildren: Jordan Herrera, Leia & Bryce Savere and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that will miss him dearly. He shared a special bond with his nephews Winston C. White III and Aaron M. White, of Cypress, TX who helped take great care of him throughout his illness until his transition. James also leaves to cherish his memories his Aunt Jewel Amey and Uncle Fletcher (Marion) Singleton both of Corpus Christi, TX. He deeply loved his family, church and friends and spending time with them all. From childhood to adulthood, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
