Joe Ricky Thomas

Joe Ricky Thomas was born March 19, 1957, in Cuero, Texas, to Doris Brown Thomas and Malcolm (Cooper) Thomas.

He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, uniting with Macedonia MBC Church. Later, he joined St. John Baptist Church where he serviced and became a Deacon.

Joe Ricky attended Cuero High School and worked part time at Fil o Pep during his adolescent years. After graduating, Joe began his career as a truck driver until he retired.

Joe was joined in holy matrimony to the late Florence Kuykendall Thomas, and they were blessed with three children. He later married Arlene Mercer from Bridgeport, Connecticut.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Malcolm (Cooper) Thomas; wife, Florence Thomas; daughter, Orneice Kuykendall; and sisters, Lisa Thomas and Joshlyn Thomas.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Felicia Valenzuela (Anthony) of Yoakum; son, Tivon Thomas (Jenny) of Victoria; sister, Ethel (Joy) Taylor of Austin, Texas; sister, Beverly Walker of Portland, Oregon; four grandchildren; and a host of cousins and friends.
