Tony R. Austin

On May 14,1953, a baby boy was born in Sargent. Texas to Cleo and Jewel Austin who they named Tony Robert Austin. He was the fourth child of nine born to this union.

Tony grew up in Cedar Lake, Texas. He attended school at O.H. Herman in Van Vleck,  graduating with the Class of 1972.

Tony worked at Dow Chemical and Petteway Services for many years.  After that, he did many contract assignments.

Tony met and married Darlene Smith on June 29, 2002 in Bay City, Texas where they resided.

Tony fell asleep in death on Sunday. February 11, 2024. He was preceded in death by his, father, Cleo Austin and his brother, Ivan Austin.

He leaves to cherish his most precious memories his wife, Darlene Austin of Bay City, Texas; mother Jewel Austin of Cedar Lake, Texas;  son, Tonye' Nelson (Andrea) of Humble, Texas; Stepson, David Green (Triquillia) of Colorado Springs, CO; Stepdaughter, Lakisha Onwudiwe (Stanley) of Houston, Texas;  Grandchildren, Tory V. Nelson of Humble, Texas, Taraya L. Nelson of Humble, Texas: Acquired Grandchildren,  Niya, Laila,  Daven,  Sara, Daniel all of Colorado Springs, CO; Brothers,  Amos Austin (Janet) of Pearland, Texas, Timothy Austin of Houston, Texas; Sisters, Evelyn Austin of Cedar Lake, Texas, Katherine Roberson (Travis) of Caney Acres, Texas,  Larney Faye Austin of Cedar Lake, Texas,  Vicki Gunn (Cephus) of Sugar Land, Texas, and Lena K. Austin-Menard (Donald) of Houston, Texas: and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly!
