Tony Douglas Jones

March 7, 1966 — October 12, 2021

Charismatic, defying the odds, and a literal “comeback kid “ are a few attributes that describes Tony D. Jones. His zest for life was infectious which is why his passing on October 12, 2021 was met with great shock and disbelief.

We all know Tony never met a stranger. You were “framily(friend+family) “in his book. He loved hard and always sought to be a blessing. It was at this church, on the front steps in the summer of 1990,  he gave his life to Jesus. Later in life, his love for God led him into ministry as an ordained minister. His work in ministry ranged from community outreach, prison ministry, and a sower into small ministries. His positivity, candor, and transparency coupled with his zeal for God,always led him to share his testimony with others and encourage them to seek earnestly after God for themselves.

Because he loved people so much, working in the transportation industry was the perfect career for him for 27 years. It allowed him to meet people in every state , Canada, and Mexico. He found his niche as a truck transporter and decker which spanned 20 years and thousands of miles logged as a contractor with several driveaway companies. With hard work and never taking “no “ for an answer, Tony was able to realize his dream as a business owner before his transition.

Besides excelling in his career, Tony dubbed himself as a pit master, a great cook, and a food connoisseur. Gulf shrimp was his absolute favorite! Because of his travels, he was able to dine in several restaurants across the country. He was also a lover of music. He would kid about becoming a record producer and called himself “Knowrhymez “ even though he was challenged in the rhythm department. In between time, he would usually take an opportunity to dip a pole in a lake or cast a line off a pier.

Although he excelled in several areas in his life, his greatest love was his family. He and his wife, Tonja were blessed with 2 daughters, 3 sons, and one grandson during their marriage of 28 years. He leaves to cherish his memories : his wife Tonja and their 5 children, Tawny, Jacob, Nissa, Tony, Jr. and Evan. One grandson, Devan, Jr. Two brothers, Demetrius Jones(Ona) and Arthur Jones along with a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him.
