Deacon Terry Campbell Obituary

In the year of our Lord 1956, a baby boy was born to the late Ellen Washington and Fred Skinner. He was named Terry Lee Campbell. Terry grew up in Waterproof, Louisiana, and attended the public schools, graduating from Waterproof High School. Terry was baptized at Myrtle Grove Missionary Baptist Church confessed to a hope Christ. Terry met and married his high school and hometown sweetheart, Margie Denise Kennedy (Jennie) where they remained married for 49 years. To this marriage union, three beautiful girls, Cherisa Holmes, Monique Campbell, Terrie Jean Campbell and one son, Robert Spears, were born. Terry started his career in the trucking business in the late 70s as a truck driver and dispatcher, starting out at Pool Distribution, Express Trucking, Classic Trucking, and he was co-owner of Three Guys Trucking, Triple “S” Transportation, and Gulf Winds Trucking. The present and final position he held was at SunBurst Trucking as a lead dispatcher. Terry joined Bible Memorial Missionary Baptist Church and was ordained Deacon by former Pastor Eric Prater. In later years, Terry united with New Guide Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor J.P. Hubbard, and he served as a faithful deacon, J.P. Hubbard, SR., Scholarship Committee, Building Fund Committee, and Kitchen Committee, along with his wife under the leadership of present Pastor Raymond Hall, Jr.

He is survived by: loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Margie Campbell; daughters, Cherisa Holmes, Monique Campbell (Frederick Ballard), Terrie Jean Campbell (Clint Gillespie, Jr.); son, Robert Spears; brother, James Washington; four step-brothers, six grandchildren; thirteen great- grandchildren; best friend, Deacon Smith and Charlette Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother and father; grandparents; three brothers; one stepbrother; and one great-grandchild.
