The sun rose in Houston, Texas on January 14, 1956, bringing with it a new day and a new life. A baby boy, Larry Darnell
Henson, Sr., was born to Floyd Henson and Wilora Chatmon. Larry’s formative childhood years were spent in the Settegast
Community in Houston, Texas, where he attended the local public schools. He received Jesus Christ, was baptized, and
grew up in Little Union Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, under the leadership of Reverend A.G. Robertson, with
great thanks to his grandparents Early and Dorothy Mae Evans.
Larry loved making people laugh, and he was a comedian at heart. He loved telling jokes for sure. Making us laugh was
his way of showing love. His love of laughter, his comedic and giving spirit, his good heart, and his kindness we will forever
cherish in our hearts.
On Friday, February 10, 2023, God call his son, Larry, to come home to forever live with him. His passing has brought
sadness to the hearts of all who loved him. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Benita
Chatmon, Antonio Henson, Nakia Henson, and Opal Henson; and a very special aunt, Mattie Grays.
Larry leaves behind to cherish his memories; his namesake and only child, Larry Darnell Henson, Jr.; daughter-inlaw,
Shevolta; he also leaves memories with his beautiful grandchildren, Brittany, Brea, LaDarion, Jayden, Brayden,
Braylen, and Bailey; as well as his great-grandson, Julian; six sisters; one uncle and aunt; as well as a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, and numerous friends.
